As a Plan participant, you should designate a beneficiary(ies) for your Plan benefit in the case of your death.

NOTE: Your beneficiary must be a person; you cannot designate your estate as a beneficiary.

For Participants Who Are Not Yet Receiving Pension Benefits

Beneficiary designations are used to determine the applicable beneficiaries for payment of the preretirement death benefit for unmarried participants (60 payments) and the applicable beneficiaries for payment of the lump sum preretirement death benefit. The Plan does not require beneficiary designations for payment. Refer to the SPD for details.

If you have designated a beneficiary within the last three years, you can view your current beneficiary designations online (login required).blue_link.png If you are not sure who your current beneficiary is, you may update your beneficiary online or send a new beneficiary designation form (PDF) to the Fund Office. If you do not have a printer, you can request a form by email at contact@iamnpf.org, or call the Fund Office at 800-424-9608.

For Benefit Recipients

If you are already receiving pension benefits, you cannot change your beneficiaries.
